Palisades Area CROP Hunger Walk
Sunday, October 19th, the Palisades Area CROP Hunger Walk will travel along the Delaware Canal Tow Path. Raise money to feed the hungry. 25% of the donations will remain in our area, going to Interfaith Meals on Wheels in Riegelsville and the Lord’s Pantry in Ottsville. The other 75% will go to feed the hungry around the world. All ages welcome (we even had babies in strollers last year).
Last year’s walkers said this was one of the best CROP Hunger Walks because they didn’t have to worry about their children running out into or crossing streets! And when you make it to the halfway point of the walk, you can stop at Trauger’s for some refreshments and relaxation.
Register online and join your congregation’s team at crophungerwalk.org/RiegelsvillePA or ask your pastor for a paper fundraising form.
Can’t Walk? Volunteer or Donate!
If you’re interested in the CROP Hunger Walk on Oct 19, but can’t walk, we need volunteers! At the start we need people to help with registration or hand out stickers and put on temporary tattoos, during the walk we need some people at our water station along the trail, and at the end we need people who’ll give out balloons and congratulate people on a journey well walked. Email Pastor Tyler from Trinity Lutheran, pastor@trinitypv.org or call him at 610.346.7282 if you’re interested in volunteering.
If you can’t help with the CROP Walk, why not support those who are walking? You can give donations online, where we’ve already raised over $800, or you can hand you donation to one of our walkers. Please make checks out to CWS/CROP.
CROP Walk CHALLENGE!
We have a few challenges this year for our CROP Walk on Oct 19. The first is a congregation-wide challenge, with a prize going to the congregation with the most walkers. Some congregations already have 15 to 20 walkers. Can your congregation make up that ground and win the prize?
Individual prizes will be awarded to the oldest walker (there’s a man who’s 90 that will be doing the short, 1K walk; who will challenge him?). We also have prizes for the top adult fundraiser and the top youth fundraiser (youth = high school or younger). To be fair, groups registered as families must split the donations evenly among the walkers. Plus there’s a scavenger hunt during the walk and a water bucket challenge for the final 1K, with a prize for the person who can get the most water to the finish line.
